I can't believe we didn't find this place sooner! I was craving fried chicken and saw it was a specialty here. Old school skillet fried chicken! It comes with Parker house rolls, mashed potatoes, and veg. You can't go wrong. The service was on point. Around just enough so you don't feel forgotten, but also not hovering you. Perfect. It's a pretty good sized space and not very loud.

OMG to die for fried chicken made to order (30min wait) but worth it. The homemade peach cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream perfect balance of sweetness.

Came especially to try this fried chicken and it was good as well as the side of mashed potatoes and steamed fresh veggies. I did sample the jalapeño shrimp corn chowder soup but decided to go with chicken noodle instead. Neither soup options were great for me so I'd probably choose a salad as an add on next time. The restaurant has an incredible historic story outlined in the cocktail menu and also seen in the ambiance. If we were in the area we'd eat here again but I'm not sure we'd make a special trip just for the chicken.

The service was a little slow, but I suppose that adds to the overall old world charm the cafe invokes--that of an era gone by. The food is fresh, flavorful and comforting. Portion sizes are pretty generous and priced decently for the amount of food you get. Definitely recommend stopping in and sampling from this historic gem tucked away in the heart of downtown Castle Rock. Prepare to be both charmed and well-satiated!

Castle Cafe has a bar/cafe type feel and kind of reminded me about Cheers (Where everybody knows your name). Service was great and our waitress was friendly. The Parkerhouse rolls to start and were warm upon arrival. Green chili soup was perfectly spiced. Patience for the fried chicken as it's cooked to order and so worth it! The chicken fried streak was tender and flavorful. The burger with mushrooms was delish. I would recommend Castle Cafe for a low key relaxing tasty evening!

MUST HAVE IN CASTLE ROCK! The pan fried chicken is AMAZING! I was so excited to hear that the chicken is cooked in different oil than the fish! For someone that is allergic to fish, I don't get to enjoy fried chicken as much as others! The mash potatoes and veggies were a great combo! The bread, butter and honey is a great start! Our waitress was awesome and never had our drinks low! Can't wait to come back and try the bread pudding.

This place has an historical feel as if at any point you're going to hear cowboy boots walking across the wooden planked floor as a pianist on an upright piano serenades the patrons. That may be the way it was back when Castle Rock was a one horse town (if ever) and the place hasn't lost that frontier ambiance. Fortunately the place has a modern day kitchen that produces fine meals. My wife and I visited this place recently and I had their pulled pork which was only exceeded by my wife's bacon-lettuce-avocado-and tomato (BLaT). She said it was the best one she'd ever eaten.
